MindAd has been interested in the Korean market and Cafe24 caught the company’s eye. To bring together Israel’s leading developers and Cafe24’s e-commerce ecosystem, the two companies decided to cooperate. This is an interview with MindAd Media’s management, Yaniv Ben-Atia, CTO of weEndeavor; Nir Maliar, CEO of MindAd; and Gillit Segev, MindAd’s VP of Sales and Business Development to obtain more insight on the recent partnership. This interview has been paraphrased for better understanding.

About MindAd – business development and partnerships

Israel-based company MindAd is leading the e-commerce market by offering crucial e-commerce strategies and services to clients. MindAd is partners with a number of global partners to help clients grow globally.

Q. Please introduce MindAd.

Israel is a country renowned for its strong performance in the technology industry and has an advanced startup ecosystem. MindAd is a leading Israeli digital marketing agency that helps execute advertising, plans A-Z strategy, and handles media planning and content management. With over 15 years of experience, the company is connected to a network of entrepreneurs and startups. It manages large companies, start-ups, and e-commerce companies in various industries as clients. MindAd also has been maintaining strong relationships with various global partners such as Google, Facebook, Naver, Kakao, and TikTok. Having recognized the importance of tech platforms from early on, MindAd is one of the first to work globally with Facebook in 2007. MindAd is a part of holdings management group weEndeavor that invests in and is working with global media and digital marketing companies.

Q. What is MindAd’s expertise?

As an expert in the online marketing and e-commerce industries, MindAd has been providing services that help clients go beyond domestic boundaries. “Most startups and companies in Israel already have a proof-of-concept working domestically and are aiming to go global, and we help these local companies expand globally by working as a bridge,” said Maliar. He also added that “MindAd provides e-commerce insight by providing tailor-made growth and go-to-market plan and strategies for revenue-optimization.” To continue positioning itself as a leading marketing agency focused on e-commerce and tech, Ben-Atia believes in the need to be quickly aligned with the next big thing by being up-to-date technically. “There is one important thing I learned about the big platforms. Usually, when they start something new, it doesn’t always work the best. But you want to be there early in order to gain the knowledge and best practice. Because by the time it becomes solid, you will already have gained a lot of experience.”

MindAd’s outlook on Korean markets

MindAd has been looking for partners in Korea since 2019. After research, MindAd decided that Korea has a notable startup ecosystem and is indeed a suitable market for Israelis and its clients.

Q. Why did the Korean market appeal to MindAd?

“After conducting an extensive market analysis and research about the digital marketing industry and e-commerce sector in Korea, we understood the potential of the Korean market,” said Segev. Ben-Atia elaborated that he was impressed by the startup ecosystem in Korea. He saw “a lot of opportunities, and found things in common with Korea and Israel like the advanced startup ecosystem.” Even now, Korea is an attractive market to Israelis. Israelis are becoming more familiar with Korean brands and culture – with heightened interest from the famous Squid Game. With more and more Israelis internationally e-commerce savvy and actively buying online, Segev comments that “there are big potentials for Israelis to buy from Korean brands.” So it was natural for MindAd to initially take interest in Korea, and continue delving into the market.

MindAd’s cooperation with e-commerce platform, Cafe24

MindAd is currently helping connect Israeli tech startups to Cafe24’s e-commerce platform to create synergy for all parties involved.

Q. Please elaborate on MindAd’s partnership with Cafe24.

MindAd serves as a bridge that connects Israeli startups and developers to Cafe24. AI personalization platform Dialogue has already launched on Cafe24 Store to provide personalization and conversion rate optimization tools to Korean online merchants. As of now, six Israeli startups are also planning to launch their apps on Cafe24 Store to reach Korean audiences. “Many other developers and e-commerce startups are standing in line in order to learn about the Cafe24 Store and see how the first apps will be successful. And then they will also bring their resources to develop their app on the Cafe24 platform,” said Maliar. While there are learning curves, MindAd is working as a liaison to bridge the gap and connect Israeli developers to Cafe24.

Q. What synergy does this collaboration produce?

MindAd believed that partnering with Cafe24 could lead to global growth for all parties involved. “We said it would be an amazing cooperation to bring Israeli innovations to Cafe24. We are very tech-savvy, well-connected, know many entrepreneurs and startups so we believed this can help Cafe24 boost its sales, and make Cafe24 a more innovative and creative platform, and help Cafe24 go global,” said Segev. As MindAd anticipated, the partnership has allowed MindAd’s clients to reach more online merchants globally, while also helping Cafe24 further enhance its global e-commerce ecosystem through added international developers and their apps. Both Cafe24 and MindAd are hoping to find more places to collaborate in the future to create even more value.
